SPORTSLOOP'S
KO-OPERATIVE
INITIATIVE FOR
LEARNING
LIFE
SKILLS

CONCEPT:
With athletes turning professional and entering the sports world at young ages, they are often unprepared to deal with the financial, social and other pressures associated with their new positions. This increased youth and financial inexperience has allowed their exploitation by family, friends, agents and other service providers.

GOALS:
The goal of the SKILLS modules is to familiarize the new professional athlete (and/or potential athlete) with basic issues to consider when looking for a service provider in each designated category. At the end of each module will be a checklist for the particular subject area that can be used by the athlete (and his/her family/representatives/agents) in conducting interviews with service providers.

CONTENT:
The content of each module will be provider neutral and will establish the ideals for the relationship from the athlete's standpoint. The modules will not pe
le a specific provider's products or services. The modules will be written in a reader friendly format that can be understood and capture the interest of the young athlete.

IMPLEMENTATION:
By developing the SKILLS modules, we can prepare comprehensive written or Internet based materials that can be used in a variety of settings: 1) players association of each major league sport; 2) NCAA; 3) Colleges and universities; 4) Minor leagues; 5) High schools; 6) Sports Camps; and 7) Other training facilities for aspiring athletes.

There are many sources we believe will support the SKILLS program for funding and implementation.
